Strengthening our Alpha Chi sisterhood is very important to us, whether that be through going to formals or cheering on the Hawkeyes. The Sigma chapter is always finding ways to build our friendships! Alpha Chi fosters friendships that go beyond 4 years and that make the University of Iowa feel like home - no matter where our sisters are from.
Meredith Baker MC ‘24:
“When first coming to Iowa I was not sold on the idea of a sorority but I knew I wanted to make genuine and real relationships that would last a lifetime. I decided to take a leap of faith and sign up for recruitment. Once I stepped into the Alpha Chi Omega house I immediately felt at home. Everyone was so kind and I felt as though the girls truly wanted to get to know me. After joining this chapter, my college experience flourished, and I finally started to feel like Iowa City was my home away from home. After living in our sorority house, the relationships that started freshman year grew exponentially, and I became surrounded by women who continuously support, inspire, and encourage me every day. With these relationships and support I have seen so much growth within myself and am proud of the person I have become. I am so thankful for what Alpha Chi Omega has given me through my college years so far, and I am eager to carry these connections through my life. ”
Brooklyn Scharrff MC ‘25:
“When I first decided to join recruitment, I wasn’t sure it was the right decision. I was not completely sold on even joining a sorority until I walked through the doors to Alpha Chi Omega in the first round of recruitment! I knew from the moment I talked to the first girl I saw entering the house (who turned out to be my big!!) that I was home. Everyone I talked to was so authentic and genuinely interested in my life experiences and what made me choose Iowa and Alpha Chi. After finishing my first year, I can say the same about everyone in our chapter, and it has led me to find some of my best friends and cannot wait to meet more in MC ‘26!! I cherish this house and the girls in it and am so proud to tell people about my amazing sorority!”
